A Dark Time
It is the year 9999 of the Third Great Reconstruction. The world stands still. A strange force has cast a heavy shadow across the land. Creatures of every kind have felt the stinging touch of madness. Total insanity has spread like a merciless plague. Though some are spared, they do not count themselves lucky. Brother has turned against brother, elf against elf, dwarf against dwarf, orc against orc and nature against nature. In the midst of the storm, the most unlikely alliances have been forged. Family, faction, race and land are no more. There is only survival!
How To Play - Quickstart (for those who don't like instructions)
Each player draws five cards from the shuffled Pool deck. Cards must be visible to opponent(s). Roll a die to determine who goes first. Each player completes the Combat Phase, taking one turn each to destroy an enemy card. The Regroup Phase is next. Each player can use this phase to purchase a Hero or Stronghold, or draw cards to replace any that were destroyed or discarded during the Combat Phase. A card is destroyed when an attacker's Attack Points (AP) is equal to or greater than the enemy target card's Hit Points (HP). Players earn Gold Points (GP) by destroying enemy Creatures, Objects and Heroes. When any of a player's cards is destroyed, (s)he also loses Life Points (LP). The included 20-sided dice are used to roll and keep track of players' LP and GP.
Taking A Turn (Combat Phase)
Choose a Creature/Hero to attack your enemy
If using an Object, place that Object behind the chosen Creature/Hero card
Declare an enemy card to attack
Roll the white 20-sided die
If successful, add any bonuses to your attacking card's AP
Also, add or subtract any automatic or modifying Object effect(s)
If the result is equal to or greater than the enemy card's HP, the enemy card is destroyed.
If the result is less than the enemy card's HP, you miss, miserably.
Player 2's turn.
Taking A Turn (Regroup Phase)
Draw cards from the Pool deck to replace any that were destroyed or discarded during the Combat Phase.
Purchase a Hero or Stronghold and/or move up to 3 Creatures/Heroes into or out of a Stronghold.
Player 2's turn.
Winning The Game (making your opponent cry)
The game is over when one player has no remaining LP. The player with remaining LP wins!
For a variant of more than two players, the only player with remaining LP wins. If an Event causes al players to lose their remaining LP, the player with the highest LP automatically wins.

What Makes This Card Game So Different?
Shadow Days is like Magic: The Gathering (for the rest of us), and Dungeons & Dragons on speed. I wanted to create a game with a deep fantasy element that was easy to jump right into. To put it another way, I wanted a rich, chocolate latté with whipped cream, but half the fat.
For deckbuilding lovers, there's plenty opportunity to build your deck with the best objects gold can buy. For the strategists among you, the strongholds are a dream come true. Move your cards at the right time for a devastating strike! For those who are into survival, you're in luck. Your precious Life Points are depleted with each successful attack by your opponent. Stay alive!
Sometimes you simply want a good dose of fantasy gaming, without all of the little pieces, paper, pencils, markers, etc. Shadow Days lies between longer, more complicated games and the super casual games. It's a bubbling cauldron of deckbuilding, combat, survival, dice and strategy. Stir it up!
Where Does The Money Go?
The artwork is almost complete. This means we will be ready to send everything to the manufacturer soon. Quality is extremely important! Your money helps get everything printed, boxed and shrink wrapped by a professional manufacturer. It also covers all of the associated marketing costs and legal mumbo jumbo (copyrights, trademarks, and so on).
