Is there any kind of specific or preferred "Concept painting" resolutions? Or is it just whatever the artist feels would be a desired resolution?

Hmm it depends, when it comes to resolutions, I always set up my canvas to 4000x2400 300 dpi. I keep that way so that even if its a speed paint you can still see the details on.
